Chronic Headaches Resolved with a Cranial Adjustment

There are only 450 different reasons for headaches. Many are the traditional causes like food allergies, stress, misaligned upper cervical vertebrae, fermented foods, high blood pressure but there are other sources not so common. Scars can work like interference fields triggering migraines. Ear piercings can be located in acupuncture points triggering headaches. Invisalign orthodontic treatment can twist the patients head causing headaches. But a major sleeper is cranial distortions that result from whiplash injuries that are not diagnosed. This was the case of a 25 year-old female patient HR who suffered headaches and balance issues every days for years after a whiplash injury.

Cervical trauma generated from a cervical whiplash directly affects the dural tube, which impacts on the cranial dural membrane system. This dural tension has the capability of distorting the alignment of the cranial bones. This misalignment can cause the cranial sutures to become jammed and also increase tension on the intracranial dural membranes, which are innervated with sensory nerves. Both scenarios will elicit chronic pain.

Following a diagnosis of cranial bone misalignment with a reversed sphenobasilar motion, a comprehensive cranial adjustment was performed. Six weeks after this treatment the patient stated that her chronic headaches were virtually gone and her balance problem also resolved. As I have always stated, there is no treatment without a diagnosis.
