Post treatment for the Symptoms of Removing the Thyroid because of Cancer

Joann B. was referred to my office by her friend. Following the surgical removal of her thyroid Joann was placed on 125 mg of Synthroid (fourth most prescribed medication in the United States). This medication is a synthetic form of thyroxin and is not bio-equivalent to the natural hormone. Not a single cell in the human body can be “tricked” into considering them to be bio-equivalent. In some cases Synthroid may actually worsen your condition. Synthroid only replaces T4, leaving your body to convert this to T3 (triiodothyronine, the biologically active form of the hormone). Most people cannot effectively convert the T4 in synthetic thyroid preparations to T3, which may explain why research has shown that a combination of T4 and T3 is often more effective than T4 alone. Synthroid is also a drug that is notoriously hard to prescribe and keep within the optimal dosage range.

Even though the patient was taking the Synthroid, she was still plagued with depression, anxiety, panic attacks, fatigue, dry hair, and brittle nails. Examination revealed the patient had toxicity issues with heavy metals, pesticides, and a virus. Placing Joann on a nutrient regime to detox her liver, open up her avenues of excretion, chelate out the heavy metals and pesticides and combat the infections. Within a week of starting her supplements, Joann witnessed a dramatic change. Her depression, anxiety and panic attacks disappeared, her energy increased as well as her sense of well-being. Zeroing in on the causative factors and removing them with natural food based nutrients allows the body to function more naturally.
